It seems like only yesterday that Christmas was over, the New Year was almost upon us, and we were excited for the continued growth of the Nintendo Switch in 2019. And now, it's February 1st.
There have been a considerable number of updates to the site recently, most of which I've shared via Twitter. I won't be surprised if you've missed a few. So for the first time, I'm writing a summary of the site updates in January 2019.
NB. This post doesn't include stats such as the number of released games or ranked games, as there are still some database updates to do for January 31st. Once those are done, I'll write another post with a few interesting numbers.
A renewed focus and connecting with new partners
On January 15th, I explained how we're helping to connect Switch indie developers and publishers with reviewers. So far, this has been well-received. We've had new signups, a good amount of Twitter buzz, and several new review partners joining.
To help explain the different types of partner we're looking for and streamline the signup process, we also launched a new Partners page.
Partner updates
In addition to the above, in January we also released some major new features:
New developer and publisher pages - we're gradually migrating the developers and publishers on games to provide better cross-linking of games from the same company. If you go to a game page and see a link on the developer or publisher name, click it for more details.
New review partner dashboard - we're starting to make better use of the member dashboard, which you'll see if you register for the site and login. We've started with review partners, and will add content for developers and publishers next.
New unranked games list for review partners - these started out as public lists from our Reviews page. We then moved them into the members area for review partners, and also hid any games that each partner has already reviewed. This makes it easier to see which games need more reviews, and which ones a review partner hasn't reviewed yet.
Site updates
There were also several general updates to the site:
- Reviews homepage - added rank updates and images
- Upcoming games - updated layout, added featured games
- Homepage - added images to latest reviews
- Top Rated 2019 list
- Joined Patreon
Not to mention dozens of smaller tweaks, especially to our admin screens and import scripts.
We've got loads planned for this year - there will be more updates soon.
