We're currently making lots of improvements to the member tools here at Switch Scores. Here's a quick rundown of what's happening.
New member dashboard
The member dashboard is now a bit more useful. There's a few new things here that we'll cover in this post.
Breadcrumbs
To make it easier to navigate the member pages, you'll now see breadcrumbs across the top of every page - similar to those on the main site.
Points
As we're rolling out member tools, there's a fairly small addition in the form of points. Essentially it's a simple system designed to highlight contributions to the site.
You'll be awarded points for certain activities, including:
- Registering for the site
- Adding a quick review
- Submitting a change suggestion in the Database help section
These aren't the only things you'll get points for - more will be added in the future.
We aren't yet showing a leaderboard but that will follow at some point. (No pun intended)
Games collection
We've had a games collection on the site for quite a while, but it seemed like the right time for a revamp. Here's how the front page of my collection now looks.
This is still a work in progress. We're working on making it easier to change the status of a game in your collection - for instance if you want to mark a game as one you're playing, where you want to pause on it for now, or if you want to mark it as Complete. Also, we'll be making it faster to add new games to your collection.
There's a relationship between this and quick reviews. Games in your collection with certain statuses (such as games you complete) will show a link asking you to add a review.
While we don't expect many people to add their entire collection to the site, it would be great to see a few people trying it out.
Database help
This is where you can help to improve the quality of information in our database. The first tool allows you to find games on the site that don't have categories, and you'll be able to submit what you think the category should be.
Special thanks go out to @cosmoschtroumpf, who has submitted a huge number of suggestions using this tool.
Get involved!
To register, go to the login page and click "Sign in with Twitter". Then have a look around the member dashboard and let us know what you think.
Thanks so much for your support - and hope you have a safe and relaxing Christmas.
